An Invisible Enemy: Covid-19

The beginning was quite scary, when a Chinese doctor who reported its presence and was compelled to state otherwise found himself breathing his last in the ICU.

Soon the world witnessed an open dance of death at every nook and corner.  Even the countries which we took as super powers, were helplessly cremating their dead.

A fervent search for an elusive antidote began. And simultaneously, public behavior was remolded to stop the spread of the ' not  so invisible anymore enemy' , Covid-19, a new name given to the old corona virus, armed with a new protein cover, an adaptation  to trouble the humanity.

In the course of treatment, many people lost their lives still many people came out completely recovered from the hospital. This is the current scenario around the world. Those, countries who have managed themselves with all the precautions dictated by WHO are doing better than those who took the advice lightly and did things in their own way or even in accordance to their vested interests.

The situation in India is the worst.  Countless people are dying, there is shortage of wood and facilities to cremate. People are simply subjecting the dead-bodies to River Ganga, polluting it further. In most of the cases people have no money because they have lost their jobs or businesses due to Demonetization.

The Silver Lining:  The same family of virus causes common cold and lungs related complications. Science has not found any remedy for cold and other related diseases. Only symptomatic treatment has been given. In normal cases common cold takes about a week's time to heal. Now its stronger counterpart Covid-19 has come.  So what should we do?  I hope you all have understood, we must take symptomatic treatment, with all the precautions taught by WHO, and leave the rest on our own immune system to do the rest.

REMEMBER: Precaution is better than cure.

Who is your God?

I have been asked many a times about God. Questions like: Who is your God? Whom do you consider your god? Which God do you worship?

The answer is very easy. God is god who says, "I am." Probably the shortest sentence answering all the above questions. But it is not so easy to understand if you have a multiple of Gods. We all want to identify with each other. When it comes to Christianity, it becomes even more difficult for them to accept the presence of  Trinity which a Christian sees as one.

It is true that irrespective of our religions  our god is the same but we have given him names; Allah, Brahma or Lord the father, Lord the Son and Lord the Holy Spirit. Christians have not named God like others have. It is  God who has created our Earth and whatever is contained in it. It is difficult to understand by those who have a multiple of gods and goddesses. Such people must introspect asking themselves about their own creation, in fact the highest creation by God.

How to realise God's existence?

The answer is easy. Though it requires meditation. A person must look at the creation, the awesome creation of life itself. He can easily arrive at the conclusion that there is a supreme power called God the Creator and if there is a creator ,he does have a purpose behind the creation. Our Vedas call Him 'Prajapati'. We are the subjects of our King. What should be the first duty of the Subjects? Of course to bow and worship the supreme creator! are we doing that? Or are we busy creating our own lesser Gods according to our lusts??

When follies are in practice from generation to generation, they are accepted as truth. Even the advice of Lord Krishna to Arjuna to go to that God who can redeem his sins, becomes difficult to grasp.

Where should one look for the god who can give us absolution? The answer is: meditation with introspection and communication with God directly. This also means that we do not have to run after any god-man to help us. We have to go directly. We have to approach god by ourselves. "Arjun, go to that God who can give you absolution." No mediator is required to approach the mighty god, our creator, Prajapati, The King of Kings.

Let us return to the initial question. If you ask me I would say, " the one who has paid the price of  my sins on the cross." The alpha and the omega, the lamb who shed his blameless blood for my sins. Can you hear Lord Krishna telling you to go to that God who can give you complete redemption.

Long Ago

Life is really amazing. I came in 1961. As I gradually turned into a concious being, I found myself with my grand parents.
I have been an early riser. It was my grandfather who took me out for morning walk without fail. I remember sitting on his shoulder, the highest Point that I could rise. Yes, he was very dear to me. He introduced the world to me in English, which became my mother tongue and remaind the only language till I started mixing with my peers.
I grew among some wonderful people; my father, his elder brother and his yonger brother were the prominent ones. [I will continue in my next blog]
